An Associated Press survey of several file transfer protocol servers run by government agencies or contractors found documents that officials, when asked for them directly, deemed too sensitive to release.

Like many others, I have my suspicions about the timing of Saddam's sentence. The proximity of this decision to the mid-term elections casts considerable doubt on the legitimacy of Saddam's execution, not that it had any real legitimacy to start with.

A survey by the Pew Research Center in October showed that 15 percent of Americans believe torture is "often" justified, and another 31 percent believe it is "sometimes" justified.
